Old Mexico Taco Buffet in Red Deer

Having had the opportunity to live in Mexico in my youth I got to experience what the working man ate every day.It wasn't covered in cheese and sauces as no one could afford this!It was fresh, made every day with love and respect and real ingredients.This is what makes the the Old Mexican Taco Buffet stand out, its food for the common man made by someone who cares about his customers.Quality first always, that's why I will always go back again and again!!!!It's easy to love and hard to stay away. Keep up the good work guys!!!

Bland, oily food. Felt pushed out the door especially after having a third plate with two little wraps. Very quick to ask if we wanted the bill. Way over priced for the quality and selection. Can't recommend at all.. not even close to quality food.

We were the only ones in the restaurant when we showed up around 12:45 p.m. on a Saturday. We assumed it was going to be much busier than this.We were a little worried about actually eating because of how empty the place was ( But we stayed based on a referral from a friend of ours.)Once we sat down and the fresh tacos were served. We helped ourselves to the tortillas soup. We couldn't understand why this place was empty.The food was delicious, the staff were fantastic, and the ambiance was as Mexican as you can get.I will be coming back here again when I'm in the area.

Very authentic and delicious. The pork and soup were amazing! I was disappointed that there was no guacamole or cheese though.

Went in mid-November 2018. Great food, the owner showed us how to make taco soup and the price is very reasonable. Will come back!!

I have been to this lovely Mexican buffet place many times. Love this Gem, this place is not like those big commercial Mexican food joints. Food always taste fresh and authentic. I am not a Mexican food expert but food from this place always reminds me of places where people cook or prepare food with love.The owner is so down to earth and remembers you no matter after how long you have visited his restaurant. He keep checking with customers for any changes they needed with food and keep providing more authentic Mexican experience.

I can't say enough great things about this place! 5* Amazing authentic mexican food. Came here for dinner with the family & we all enjoyed our meals. The all you can eat buffet has everything you want when craving mexican food. They have all the taco fixings you can think of chicken, pork & beef and everything is homeade. Make sure to go for extra guac 🥑 they also serve tortilla soup, roasted potatoes & rice at the buffet so make sure you come to this restaurant hungry.

Great food! The Chef is very nice and friendly. When you first walk in, it smells fantastic. Even the ice cream was good, which is uncommon in buffets. Highly recommend!

The new menu adds so much to the restaurant, authentic Mexican dishes at a lower cost than the buffet was. Try the flautas as an appetizer because they are delicious!

The food is incredible. Authentic. Everything is home made from the tortillas to the nacho chips every everything to add. Would recommend 10/10

This is some of the best Mexican food I have ever had and I have eaten a lot cause it's my favourite. The tortilla soup is great, but I went for the TACOS. It's very authentic. The owner told me to order a Paloma instead of a Margarita, and it was very tasty. Definitely will be a regular stop for me!

Old Mexico Taco Buffet has changed its menu to A la carte and it is even better than before! Chef Wilfredo now showcases traditional dishes I’d never tried before. I plan on working my way through the new amazing menu. You must try the homemade churros for dessert! Yum!

Super fresh,healthy,exquisite taste. A friend and I didn't see the instructions for how to build the taco soup, and the waiter graciously redirected us. Ha ha ha! Excellent service and authentic atmosphere!

This was the first place I had gone after moving to Red Deer. The reviews said it was definitely worth checking out. My experience, not so much. Maybe they were just having an off night?

Food here tastes like you're actually in Mexico. Great authentic Mexican food. Great price as well. Also, the wraps are made from corn so if you eat Gluten free than it's safe for you. Little taste of mexico in Red Deer. We stopped in for lunch and it was wonderful, the atmosphere is relaxing and clean. The food is fresh and very good, and reasonably priced.

So friendly! Took my 4 year old and they immediately started making suggestions and changes to menu items for her. I've never seen her eat so much food. My taco special was delicious. Should have ordered 2 orders! Yum!

A small hole in wall restaurant that delivers on on levels! As the name suggests, this is Buffett only so bring your appetite and your appreciation for Mexican food will never be greater. You get a wide variety of toppings to build your tacos and usually have two proteins to choose from - Chicken & Chorizo - in addition the Tortilla soup is incredibly savory! Stop by for lunch or dinner. You can also bring kids, which are half priced as adults.

Great little spot with great service. Owner is fun to chat with and food quality was at par with price point. In a city full of chain restaurants this is a great little gem.

Pretty good Mexican food. All you eat so you will not leave hungry. We took our two young kids and it wasn't the best for them. Ice cream dessert at the end was their favorite part. Reasonably priced. $16 for adults. $7 kids.

Accomidated our large group with very short notice. Authentic and delicious mexican food. Very friendly and welcoming staff. Overall amazing experience! Definitely recommend!!

Recently my wife and I visited this Taco buffet and I have to say it was very authentic Mexican food. The tortilla soup was definitely one of the best things they have to offer. We will be going back soon!

Outstanding authentic Mexican food. Staff are extremely welcoming. The owner explained how the food was different from standard North American Mexican fare and even walked us through how to prepare an authentic tortilla soup from the buffet.

I don't normally rate places, however I had to with this place. The gentleman who runs the place is extremely friendly and takes a moment to talk with all of his guests. The food was definitely authentic Mexican food (my date is from Puebla Mexico) and she is a food critic 😂 it's delicious home made Mexicana food! I would recommend this place to anyone!

A quaint place. When you enter it’s not the most appealing place. Then when you get your food and start to realize that’s it’s 100% authentic your thoughts start to hope. The food is amazing and delicious. Then the ambiance of the place really hits you. You just transported to Mexico to have a wonderful meal. 100% recommendations for this place. Great price for great food. Honest and authentic Mexican food in a very unassuming place in downtown Red Deer. I particularly enjoyed the unpretentious nature of how the food and restaurant is presented unlike other authentic Mexican restaurants in the big cities that cater to a more yuppie crowd. Very down to earth with great food. Just what i like.

A must try in red deer. Very nice place to eat, brings back the time when we went to Mexico, very authentic food, the price is not so bad too $15.50 for dinner buffet. Bathroom is very clean and I was surprised to find a very comfortable changing table in the ladies washroom just what I needed! Will come back again for sure

Classy version of OLD MEXICO! haha! Better, much better than expected! Freshly cooked taco ingredients to build your own taco meal. Especially enjoy their homemade taco soup. Lots of wheat free options. No cheese - as cheese is not a traditional Mexican ingredient. Great value. Delicious homemade recipes. Proud owners. You should go!

Our dinner here was so good. The soup was amazing although it could have been a bit warmer. Will come back for sure, love all the vegetarian options.

The food was either bland or over spicey. We returned a dish and they wouldn't take it off the bill. Never go there again.
